Dominic Ohl

Most leaders I work with are carrying a lot of responsibility. They’re making decisions that affect other people, navigating complex relationships, and trying to do good work under constant pressure. What I offer is a place to slow down, think clearly and speak honestly about what’s really going on.

My coaching focuses on the relational side of leadership; the conversations we avoid, the patterns we fall into under pressure, and the ways our own thinking and behavior affect the people around us. By bringing more awareness to those dynamics, leaders often find that things which once felt heavy or complicated start to move more easily. Because if we don’t know what we’re up to, how are we supposed to change it?

I grew up playing basketball and Phil (my dad) was my coach for much of that time. I didn’t realize it at the time, but he was teaching our group of 10-year-olds many of the same principles of high-performance that we use in our coaching today.

I ended up playing on the varsity team at UVic where I studied commerce and philosophy.

After graduation, I dedicated five years to customer service roles with two of our local ferry boat operators, Black Ball and then BC Ferries.

After a failed attempt to transition into the video game industry, I went on to coordinate VIATEC’s accelerator program, where I worked alongside experienced executives and business coaches to support nearly 100 entrepreneurs as they launched their tech startups (none were video games unfortunately).

Being in that environment had a big impact on me. I watched founders navigate uncertainty, build teams, wrestle with big decisions, and grow into leadership roles in real time. That exposure sparked my fascination with how people grow, change, and step into their potential, and eventually led me here.

I’m certified by the International Association of Coaching, which means my coaching is grounded in presence, curiosity, and deep listening. I come to this work with a caring heart, a love for solving problems, and the mind of a philosophy nerd who can’t help but connect the dots.

When I’m not coaching, I like to shoot hoops, play tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons or Magic: The Gathering, video games, reading, writing and producing electronic music.
