Our Story
The Leader’s Edge was founded on the vision of helping people see the best in themselves and in others and the belief that all leadership happens within relationships. The relationship with ourself as well as with others.
It all started when Phil delivered a parenting course to young parents in his community. What he discovered was powerful: the same principles that strengthen families, such as trust, integrity, self-awareness, and clear communication, are the very principles that strengthen teams. Word spread quickly, and Phil was soon invited to bring these insights into the business world. What began as family leadership naturally grew into executive coaching, where he saw firsthand how these values could turn a good team into a great one.
Phil brought to this work his experience from high-performance sport, his years building a business, and his own journey with the challenges of MS. His approach was further shaped by the work he did with his own coach, who was deeply influenced by Werner Erhard’s groundbreaking methodology. Applying these principles in his own life led to profound personal transformation, and over the years Phil continued to develop and refine them into the practice he brings to leaders today.
For Dom, coaching started early too. Phil was his basketball coach growing up and he went on to play for the University of Victoria. Those years of playing on teams, learning discipline, and experiencing what trust and connection can do for performance left a lasting imprint. Later, after studying business, working with tech founders, and diving deep into mindfulness and conscious leadership, Dom found his own way into the work and eventually joined Phil. What began as parallel paths became a shared mission: to help leaders see the best in themselves and in others, so they can have more fun, get more done, and create ripple effects that reach far beyond the office walls.
Today, that mission feels more urgent than ever. Studies show that 75 percent of middle managers are burning out, more than a quarter are planning to leave their roles, and many say confidence is their biggest challenge. This is not just a statistic, it is the lived experience of the leaders we serve.
