Let’s slow down for a second
I started working with a new client a few weeks ago, and when I asked her what she found valuable from our first session, she said, “Until today, I hadn’t taken the time to pause and reflect on what I actually want to accomplish in my role.”
She’s been so busy learning the ropes at work and managing things at home that she just hadn’t made space for that kind of reflection. And honestly, it’s so common. It’s easy to stay in motion, reacting to whatever comes up next without ever really checking in with yourself.
But taking even a little time to reflect, or working with a coach to get clear on what you actually want, the impact you want to have, and the kind of person you want to be at work, with your family, and in your friendships can make a huge difference.
I know, because I didn’t pause like that for the first 27 years of my life. I was just going through the motions, trying to keep up. But once I slowed down and started asking myself what I really wanted, everything started to shift. I went from reacting and burning out to creating and connecting. I felt more purpose in the work I was doing because I finally understood why I was doing it. I started to build a vision that felt exciting and real.
That’s why I love this work so much. I get to see people tap into what matters most to them. I get to hear about their values, their goals, and who they are when they feel like the best version of themselves. And then, like helping a garden grow, I support that version of them to take root and thrive.
The Leader’s Edge was founded on a simple vision: to help people see the best in themselves and in others. And I believe this kind of self-reflection is the first step.
So, when you’re showing up as your best self, what does that look like?
