NEWSLETTERS
Hello,
The Leader's Edge Team has had a productive start to our new year and we hope the same is true for you, both personally and professionally.
March is a great time to look forward - to Spring, to warmer weather, and perhaps to increased energy as we begin to emerge and awaken from the grip of winter.
This month we are focused on communication and in particular to 'listening' and are pleased to share an article that was written last year but only recently published in Western Grocer Magazine. Take some time to read and to really hear the messages from Mary Lynn as well as in our video clip on 'sound' and in the article from Rachelle Lamb, on NVC Communication.
We hope you find some new information and take some of what you learn back to share at your home and office.
We are listening too and welcome your feedback. We value your time and appreciate our relationship so do tell us what you want to see in upcoming newsletters.

Welcome to the June issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter.
At the Leader's Edge, we are preparing to usher in summer, and for many that represents a chance to kick back and relax, spend a little more time with family and friends, and perhaps a well deserved vacation. It also means taking a short break from our newsletter and our pace of work, so that our team too can enjoy a little more time in the garden or at the beach.
Our hope is that you will find an opportunity to enjoy all that the summer season brings. If you can, take steps to pull back a little on your schedule, enjoy a shorter working day or maybe a slightly slower pace, and spend some more time with those you care about.
It's important to get the most out of this short and splendid time of year, and while we recognize that the work world doesn't stop for sunshine, it is vital that you balance work and play, whatever the time of year.
Summer is also a great time to catch up on reading, so check out our summer picks and we will meet you back here in September, rested and ready. Wishing you a wonderful summer,

Welcome to the May issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. In our work lives when we talk about balance, we are often speaking about juggling many balls, wearing many hats, and balancing the books and the bottom line. This month we encourage you to think about the bigger balance picture; your work/life balance, and to consider how much you are giving both professionally and personally as well how much you are giving back to the community. Work and life fulfillment come in many forms, including a job well done, a day well spent, and a life well lived. We invite you to ask your yourself - Is my life in balance? And if not, perhaps this month you can make some adjustments and get back on track.

Welcome to the April issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. Last month we talked about 'energy' and 'time' and the possibility that awaits with a new season. This month we invite you to take a fresh look at your work habits and your workplace and to give some thought to your 'wellbeing'. "We spend the majority of our waking hours at work, and the environments in which we live, learn, and work have a significant impact on our health" (Buffet Taylor Report, 2003) Don't you owe it to yourself to invest in what will make your work healthier and more enjoyable, productive, and more worthwhile? As we move forward into May, we encourage you to take stock of what is working and what is not, and to open yourself up to new ideas and approaches; read a new book (see our website for for a list of our favourites), try a new strategy, enroll in a personal or professional development program that can and will make a difference to you and your work.

Welcome to the March issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. As we begin to see the first signs of Spring here on the West Coast, our thoughts turn to renewal and rebirth. We may look to the outdoors more, start to shed some of our heavier clothes, and may enjoy a sense of renewed energy and a lightness in spirit. In this month's issue, we invite you to slow down before you rev up, to PAUSE and to do what you need to do in order to RE-ENERGIZE and RENEW -your body, mind, and spirit. We are moving toward longer light filled days, warmer temperatures and nature's newest offerings, and we encourage you to find some time for yourself and others and to find the real meaning and joy in what you do.

Welcome to the February issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. This month, our focus is on Appreciative Inquiry. For those of you who may not be as familiar with this concept, here is an introduction, reprinted with permission, from Appreciative Inquiry: A Transformative Paradigm by Jane Magruder Watkins and David Cooperrider. "Appreciative Inquiry, a concept and approach conceived and described in the work of Dr. David Cooperrider and his colleagues at Case Western Reserve's school of Organization Behaviour, is a worldview, a paradigm of thought and understanding that holds organizations to the affirmative systems created by humankind as solutions to problems. It is a theory, a mindset, and an approach to analysis that leads to organizational learning and creativity. Used in place of the traditional problem solving approach-finding what is wrong and forging solutions to fix the problems-Appreciative Inquiry seeks what is "right" in an organization. It is a habit of mind, heart, and imagination that searches for the success, the life-giving force, the incidence of joy. It moves toward what the organization is doing right and provides a frame for creating an imagined future that builds on and expands the joyful and life-giving realities as the metaphor and organizing principle of the organization." We hope you find something of value as you read on , and we invite you to contact us if you would like to learn more about Appreciative Inquiry or any of our programs.

Welcome to the January issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. Last month, I reflected on a year that was winding down, and this month, I am instead, looking ahead as the year revs up and we are buoyed by its newness and the air of possibility. The start of a New Year is traditionally a time for intention- for making wish lists and setting goals, for looking onward and forward. January is new, fresh, and provides hope;to do things differently, to chart a new course or set a new direction, or to simply stay on track and maintain our vision. In any organization or business, we recognize that no one goes it alone. We are surrounded and supported by those relationships that sustain us, that demand our very best, and those that are willing to help us get there. Coaching - something we know a lot about at The Leader's Edge - is one of those relationships; designed to assist you by providing support and encouragement, identifying and capitalizing on strengths and skills, and helping you affect real change. At The Leader's Edge, our own vision includes a commitment to 'achievement of the highest potential of each individual and organization' and to help you realize that potential, I am excited to extend a special New Year offer, to participate in a coaching session with one of our professional coaches. We are confident that you will come away with a renewed commitment to be the very best that you can be. I invite you to read the sidebar for more details, and to make the call. And from all of us to all of you, we wish you the very best for a healthy and successful 2011!

Welcome to the December issue of our Connected Leadership Newsletter. As the year slowly winds down, my hectic pace slows, with it providing more moments than usual for reflection to focus on things for which I am grateful. I've come to realize that that which I am most grateful for both in my personal and professional life is linked largely to my relationships. I simply cherish and thrive on the connections and shared experiences I have with the people in my life. It is fitting therefore that I take this opportunity to thank all of you for your relationship with the Leader's Edge and consequently directly or indirectly with me this past year. I look forward to deepening our connection in 2011 in whatever shape our relationship unfolds.
Warm wishes for the holidays,
